What to expect from Save the Cups in the New Year

What to expect from Save the Cups in the new yearWe at Save the Cups don’t like to keep you waiting. (OK, maybe a little. Why else would we have a clock counting down the hours until the site launches?)

Since we know you’re dying to hear about the new site that’s launching on January 1, we’d like to give you a quick intro into what you can expect once SavetheCups.com becomes the real thing. Here’s the run down on what you’ll be able to do:

  • Log into SavetheCups.com from the Web or your mobile phone to track every time you save a paper cup by bringing your own reusable cup
  • Claim what location, i.e. coffee house, you just saved a cup at
  • See who has saved the most cups at that location (hopefully it will be you…)
  • Send your cup-saving-awesomeness to Twitter and Facebook to tell your friends about it
  • See the running total of how many cups you’ve saved and how many have been saved by the entire community

We’ve got a lot of ideas about how to make this thing grow, but this is how it’s going to start. We hope we can count on you to join us starting January 1.

Let the anticipation begin.

In a Nutshell

by Caleb on December 1, 2009

Save the Cups is about saving paper coffee cups

I drink a lot of coffee, and therefore I make a lot of trips to coffee shops. One day I was walking back to the office with one such cup of coffee, and I realized I throw away a lot of paper cups a year.

This, in a nutshell, is how Save the Cups got started.

We don’t need to lecture, and we don’t need to throw out statistics.

So we won’t.

What we’d like to do is give you a reason not to continue wasting paper cups, and in the meantime have a little fun. To us, this seems like a much easier reason to change our lifestyle than t-shirts that say Everytime you drink from a paper cup you’re drinking the Earth’s blood!

Although if you’d like a t-shirt that says that, I’d be willing to consider it.

Save the Cups, once it officially launches on January 1, will be a community of people, all committed to changing one habit and thereby making a huge overall impact.

Join us?
